The Nal’ibali Reading-for-Enjoyment Campaign aims to revive and deepen our appreciation of stories and narrative as being not only essential as the primary way we as human beings remember and organise our thoughts and conceptual worlds, but also the basis for critical thinking and meaningful education for all children. In this learning brief, the work of Nal’ibali is contextualised by raising and discussing some of the major issues affecting and influencing formal literacy education.
